The Sanborn  Fire Maps

This image represents just a tiny section of a collection of maps that the Sanborn Map Company produced from roughly 1890 to 1930.  The company has both later and earlier dates, but generally not in the area covered by Northern Kentucky Views.  These maps have extraordinary detail showing locations of buildings in many small towns in Kentucky and other states.

Augusta got better coverage from Sanborn than most towns, and you can find 2 maps from 1884, 4 from 1890, 5 from 1895, 5 from 1901, 8 from 1909, 8 from 1920 and 9 from 1931.  The Neider map is from the 1909 series. They're copyrighted, and while I question the validity of a 100 year old copyright, I've nevertheless elected not to post them in their entirety for you.  The good news is that they are all online and you can get to them.  You'll need a password.  You can get a free password either with your membership in the Kentucky Historical Society ($35 per year), or your library card from the Mary Ann Mongan Library, which is the public library in Covington.  If your local library offers a collection of online databases, you may already have access.

Brooksville is also represented, but Germantown is not.
