Mace Agnew was born in Lewis county, Kentucky, Jan 22, 1859, and there he was brought up until twelve years of age, when he went on the river for twenty-three years, being a steamboat captain for sixteen years.  Three years ago, Captain Agnew quit the business, came to Dayton and engaged I the coal trade; and has established a fine business, with years at the C. & O. railway, and an office at 129 Sixth avenue.  His old steamboat popularity still follows him.
