| Cock Fighting in the Highlands | |
|
Four dandy sports yesterday took a trip to the "Inn" kept by Daniel Petri on Grand avenue in the Highlands near Fort Thomas. They took a red game cock along with them in a bag. After taking on several glasses of lager, they got into a jolly mood and proposed a match between Petri's bird and their own. The former had no objection and the two cocks, after being prepared for battle, were let go. The
sport lasted about two minutes, for the country game wholloped the city
chap to perfection and announced the victory by standing over his
prostrate body and crowing for dear life. When the boys left, Mr.
Petri invited them to call again and bring a bull-terrier with them, as
he was prepared for all-comers. |
