Mrs. M. J. Wheeler, the eloping widow of Prestonville made her appearance at that place Thursday night. Yesterday morning several of the citizens called the authorities seeking to have her arrested for some of the various crimes which suspicion says she has committed. No one, however, being able to make the necessary affidavit, it was not possible to rid the town of her in that way. A cowhiding was at first contemplated, but that plan was abandoned. The widow, hearing of the impending danger, sent over and hired a buggy with a view to fleeing to Madison. Before it arrived she started on foot but the boys after with with eggs. The buggy coming on, she jumped in and made her escape.
