"The Carrolltonians have had the pleasure of seeing
Gen. John C. Breckinridge, who, accompanied by his son, Owen, on
Saturday returned from the New Liberty fair with the
Hon. Jesse D. Bright. They attended the Presbyterian Church, on
Sunday, and seldom has one of its pews contained more distinguished,
worthy, and popular men, than Gen. W. O. Butler, Bright and
Breckenridge. Gen. Breckenridge, though still in prime and vigor
of manhood, looks somewhat older, from the wear and tear of the last
eight years. He and Mr. Bright left here on Sunday evening for St.
Louis, to attend the Convention, for the removal of the U. S. Capital,
having been appointed to it by Gov. Stevenson.
