At the time of this photo, 1905, it was common for most county school systems to have "institutes."  It was a gathering of all of the teachers of all of the one room schools of the county.  They were not unlike what we think of today as an "in-service day."

The superintendent is Mr. J. A. McDanell, and the building is an earlier Warsaw town hall, which later burned.
