Lucy Dupuy Montz

Lucy Dupuy Montz (1842-1922) was born near Warsaw, Kentucky, and became Kentucky's first woman dentist.

A wife and a mother, she became a school teacher.  After a few years she elected to go to the Cincinnati College of Dental Surgery, where she graduated with honors in 1889.  She served for a time as a member of the faculty at that school, but at age 51, she elected to return to Warsaw, and set up a dental practice a what is now 200 West High Street.  She continued her practice until ill health forced her to retire in 1921.
