July 7, 1915

The tornado of 1915 was the beginning of the end for the Lagoon.  The second bad blow was a  horrible motorcycle-act accident that killed 7, burned 20 others badly, and injured a total of  almost 50.  After that, WWI and prohibition were more than the park could sustain, and today,  it's just a big empty tract of land where there used to be a lake, and so much more.  The Club House is still standing.

Thanks! to Nancy and Dennis Hanseman for this image.
