In the year 1882, a small band of faithful Christian workers held a get-together meeting at New Liberty, Kentucky for the purpose of laying plans for the organization of a Sunday School Convention. These plans were not perfected until the following year at Kirksville, Kentucky, but the organization was given the name of "The New Liberty Baptist Sunday School Convention." Its object was to advance and perpetuate the Sunday Schools within its bounds, support missions and education. Later, it decided to enlarge its work to the purchasing and maintenance of a home for the aged and infirm.

During the sixty years of its existence, it has had nine president, namely, Revs. G.B. Miller, J.A. White, S.M. Watts, T.R. Reed, G.G.L. Walker. Twenty-three Sunday Schools are enrolled in this convention. The spirit is kept alive by quarterly meetings of the board. Many ministers and Christian workers can point to this convention as an inspiration.

At present, the staff of officers are: Miss G.L. Walker, President; W.R. Searcy, First Vice President; Thomas Turner, Second Vice President; Miss Bessie D. Irvine, Recording Secretary; E.W. Mason, Corresponding Secretary; Mrs. Mary E. Miller, Treasurer; Miss Katie M. Bennett, Organist; Alonzo Ballard, Assistant Organist; Miss Mildred Parks, Chorister; Miss Ethel Martin, Assistant Chorister, and Rev. T.A. Bennett, Instructor.
