The county seat of Pendleton county, a village of 700 inhabitants, is
situated at the junction of the two branches of Licking river, about the
center of the county. It is a station of the Kentucky Central R.R., 39
miles south of Covington, and 60 miles north of Lexington. Tobacco and
livestock are its principal shipments. The Western Union Telegraph and
Adams Express Co.'s have offices here. It has a weekly newspaper, the
Independent. Daily mail. W.E. Wilson, postmaster.
