The Sanborn  Fire Maps

This map represents just a tiny section large map that's a piece of a collection of maps that the Sanborn Map Company produced from roughly 1890 to 1930.  The company has both later and earlier dates, but generally not in the area covered by Northern Kentucky Views.  These maps have extraordinary detail showing locations of buildings in many small towns in Kentucky and other states.

There are several series of these maps.  As Falmouth grew, it took more maps to cover the town.  They're available from 1886 (3 maps), May 1891  (4 maps), July 1897 (6 maps), November 1903 (6 maps), May 1909 (6 maps) and January 1927 (7 maps).  There's a Butler map from 1886, and another in 1927.  They're copyrighted, and while I question the validity of a 100 year old copyright, I've nevertheless elected not to post them in their entirety for you.

The good news is that they are all online and you can get to them.  You'll need a password.  You can get a free password either with your membership in the Kentucky Historical Society ($35 per year), or your library card from the Mary Ann Mongan Library, which is the public library in Covington.
