The Eagle Valley House's grand opening was on January 27, 1871. The party thrown on the occasion was “one of the most recherche affairs that has ever taken place in Northern Kentucky.”

Well, it was - past tense, it's been demolished - stone, and it was absolutely old, but oldest in the state? We're doubtful in the absence of evidence.
