Maysville, Ky., April 14. - The turnpike raiders have made their first appearance in [Mason] County. They destroyed one gate on the Helena and Mays Lick pike, and one on the Helena road, and ordered the keepers to collect no more toll. The first gate has been replaced. The officers of the roads to-day reported the lawlessness to County Judge Hutchins, who at once offered a reward of $200 of the conviction of all or any of the raiders. One of the gates destroyed was right in the village of Helena. It was cut down at 10 o'clock at night. The raiders were armed and parties who saw them say the guns belonged to the state guard.
