Shakers

NKYViews is not familiar with Shakers in Mason County, but we do read in John Palmer's Journals of Travels in the United States of North America (London, 1818), that: “There is one of more societies of shakers in almost every state; the largest, consisting of near seven hundred, is in Mason county, Kentucky.” We note that in 1818, Mason County covered a lot more ground than it does today. We suspect this is reference to a long gone settlement in Fleming county.
