Raiders Still Busy
Two Gates in Mason County Destroyed by a Gang of Twenty Men
Maysville, Ky. Sept. 3, - Turnpike raiders last night tore down the gate near Mayslick, kept by John Cogan, and the gate at North fork, kept by Mike Young, on the Lexington Pike. The number of raiders is estimated at twenty. The guards stationed at these gates were withdrawn two days ago.
These gates have been visited four times by raiders. This county will not vote in November on the proposition approved by the Fiscal Court to issue bonds to purchase all the pikes, because 15 percent of the voters have not signed a petition required by the law to submit the proposition.
